The building has three levels which are connected by curved walkways, glass and titanium elevators and staircases as the Atrium is an axis for twenty galleries. The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao construction started in October 1993 and finished in October 1997. The outer facade of the museum is chiselled out of titanium where around thirty-three thousand thin titanium sheets were used to get the desired effect. The other two materials used in construction were limestone and glass which are perfectly harmonized with a sensational visual effect. The building when closely observed from the ground resembles a boat. The mathematical intricacies and twisting curves were designed by using a 3D software design called CATIA which gives the exact calculation of the complex design.
